Tin
Tin is traded on the London Metal Exchange. It is a silvery-white metal, is malleable, somewhat ductile, and has a highly crystalline structure. Due to the breaking of these crystals, a ‘tin cry’ is heard when a bar is bent. Tin resists corrosion and because of this is used in many alloys and to coat other metals.
Tin is produced in China, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Peru and Bolivia. Tin is alloyed with copper to make bronze. Pewter alloys contain between 85% and 99% tin.
