Lead

Standard Lead is traded on the London Metal Exchange.

Lead is a bluish-white shiny metal. It is very soft, highly malleable, ductile, and a relatively poor conductor of electricity. It is very resistant to corrosion but tarnishes upon exposure to air. Lead pipes dating from the Roman era can still be found in operation Lead alloys include pewter and solder.

Metallic lead does occur in nature, but it is rare. Lead is usually found in ore with zinc, silver and copper and is extracted together with these metals.

More than 50% of lead production is accounted for by the US, Australia and China.
